KORN Reaffirms 'Family Values' This Weekend
July 20, 2007Launch Radio Networks reports: KORN kicks off the latest edition of the Family Values tour on Friday (July 20) in St. Louis, with more than a dozen bands on two separate stages. EVANESCENCE, HELLYEAH, FLYLEAF, ATREYU and TRIVIUM will join KORN on the main stage, while a second stage will include a full lineup of acts. There will also be games, demonstrations and other activities for fans at the event, which also features lawn tickets priced at $9.99. Singer Jonathan Davis explained KORN's goals for the tour. "To create an event that everybody could afford to go to, basically, and just have a good time," he said. 'You know, we bring out a lot of different bands. I think the overall reason we do it is for kids to come and have fun every year. All music fans can come, get along, and just have a good time."
KORN reactivated Family Values in 2006 after a five-year hiatus.
The second stage this year is sponsored by the makers of the Guitar Hero video game series, with eight Guitar Hero II finalists facing off at each stop on the tour. The finalists will play Guitar Hero II on stage between sets and compete for an autographed KORN guitar, band access passes and a chance to play against Davis backstage.
KORN releases its eighth studio album, which is going out untitled, on July 31.
Davis and guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer said in a teleconference on Wednesday (July 18) that their next project could be a collection of cover tunes. The band, which first floated this idea in 2005, has already cut versions of songs by FAITH NO MORE, NINE INCH NAILS and the PSYCHEDELIC FURS.
KORN is also launching a reality show called "The Loc Dog Show" on high definition video network KushTV.com. The show will follow the band around on their recent European tour as well the Family Values trek.
